It Bag is a fashion handbag.

The term was coined in the 1990s with the explosive growth of the handbag market in fashion. Designers vied to produce one bag that would sell hundreds of thousands of units by becoming the bag "of the moment" -- a single handbag style that would spread like wildfire in popularity through the intertwined worlds of fashion and celebrity, aided by clever or just plain lucky marketing. Another way to define them is to say what other bags are not: "They are most definitely not it bags in the sense that they become isn't bags the next season."

As consumers have become more demanding, and in the face of structural changes in the handbag market, the It Bag is increasing in popularity. More and more fashion companies are diversifying their offers, and no longer does one style blaze through a season.

Bag obsessed and tired of searching for the perfect handbag, designer Monica Botkier originally set out to create the handbag of her dreams for herself. The attention the bag received from friends, fashion editors, and models, however, inspired her to share her dream, and Botkier was born. The original "Trigger Bag" served as the springboard for a line of bags that each has a personality and history of its own, just like the woman wearing it.

New Yorker, Monica Botkier first delved into the fashion industry as a photographer, shooting for several national magazines such as Seventeen, Nylon, Surface and Fitness. Spending her days running through downtown Manhattan and loaded up with all the essential items a fashion photographer must carry, Monica found herself longing for an easier way to organize her life. After searching for such bag, Monica simply decided to create her own that was roomy, yet chic enough to be trotted in front of the industry's scrutinizing eye. Functional and wearable, stylish and detailed-the Botkier Trigger bag was born.

Drawing her inspiration from the fast paced and on the go lifestyle of New York women, Monica launched the first Botkier collection in 2003 that has since become a successful global accessories brand. With the success of the Trigger bag Monica created a niche in the handbag market by offering women a designer product at an attainable price point. From supple leathers, delicious colors and custom crafted hardware Botkier bags establish a personality of their own-clean and classic, while incredibly sexy.

Always remaining true to her original philosophy of the ideal handbag, in the Spring 2006 Collection Monica introduced the Bianca bag. Inspired by the forever chic and jet-set woman the Bianca bag has firmly established itself as the next Botkier "It" bag. With the continued expansion of the Botkier brand Monica launched a belt collection in the Spring of 2008. "Every piece in the Botkier collection combines personal style and luxury with lasting utility".

Botkier bags have found a devoted fan base both in the US and around the world including Japan, Scandanavia, and the UK. The collection has had continued success with respected stores such as Barney's New York, Fred Segal, Harvey Nichols and Neiman Marcus to name a few. Botkier bags are a permanent item on the celebrity "must have list", favored by celebrities including: Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Heidi Klum, Kate Bosworth, Joy Bryant and Zooey Deschanel. Each Botkier bag is an ageless and indispensable part of its owner's wardrobe. And just like the woman wearing it, each bag has a story.
